Do I need an appointment and how long will it last?

First visit bridal appointments usually last between 1 and 2 hours.

Appointments during weekdays are preferred as we work on a one to one basis. We strive to provide great service and a relaxed atmosphere and our private fitting area allows us to give a personal consultation and a fabulous experience.

On a Saturday, we operate on an appointment only basis therefore, our shop door will be locked whilst our team are in an appointment. The door will be unlocked 5 minutes prior to our next appointment arrival.

What do I need to bring with me to my appointment?

An open mind! We encourage you to try on different styles of gowns, even if it is the opposite to what you have in mind. Wear underwear you are comfortable and happy in, and ideally wear or bring a strapless bra. Please don't wear fake tan or lipstick as it is very hard to remove from fabrics.

When do I pay for my dress?

A 50% deposit is required to secure your order. We will then endeavour to order your dress from the supplier within 48 hours.

When your dress arrives into our shop we will contact you to let you know the exciting news! You will need to book an appointment to try on your gown and settle your remaining balance.

Bridal Gowns can take up to five months to arrive.
Optional 'rush order' with certain designers, charged with an extra fee by the designer.

Interest free payment plans are also available.

Sample/sale gowns are paid for in full on day of purchase.

What if I plan to lose weight?

We will order your dress according to your measurements at the time of ordering. Our seamstress is happy to offer her advice. Our dresses do have seam allowance for weight loss and gain however, each designer is different and will need to be discussed on purchase.

Can I hire a dress from The Wedding Room?

The Wedding Room does not offer a hire service; however, our wedding gowns start from £300 and Mother of the bride/groom outfits from £100. Call us first and ask about our upcoming sample sales and our sale rail if you're working to a budget.

Do you offer alterations?

We have a very experienced seamstress on hand for all alterations. Alterations are not included in the price of your chosen gown and cost will depend on what work needs to be done. You will be quoted a price on your first fitting and you pay the seamstress directly on collection of your gown.

Our seamstress is happy to customise your bridal gown i.e. train shortening, changing of fastenings, adding sleeves or extra embellishments.
We do not offer alterations for gowns not purchased from The Wedding Room.

Have I left it too late to order a dress?

All designers have an ordering time scale when you choose your dress and need it in a certain colour and size. However, our wedding gowns are also available to buy off the peg and include proffesional dry cleaning.

My wedding is abroad - Does this restrict my gown choice?

Not at all! We encourage all our brides to choose the dress of their dreams! The Wedding Room team are happy to pack your gown ready to travel for you, we even offer beautifully designed travel boxes which have been made with the exact dimensions of hand luggage for the most popular airlines such as Virgin, Thomson, Easyjet and many more. Ensuring your dream dress never leaves your sight and making sure no one can sneak a peek at your wedding gown before the big day.

Can my wedding dress be dry cleaned?

Call in with your gown and we will hopefully be able to have it professionally cleaned for you. Don't worry about how dirty the train is, how many champagne splashes it has on the skirt or the amount of confetti left in your veil, these are all signs of the most wonderful wedding day!!

Can I book a separate appointment to my bridal appointment to come with my mum and look at outfits for her and the groomsmen for their suits?

Ofcourse! We advise a bridal appointment is just for the bride only, keeping it a special experience in finding your dream gown. Then it's a great excuse to come back (obviously re-try your gown on and fall madly in love all over again!) and try on mother of the bride/groom. We advise separate appointments for your groom and his groomsmen to try on suits separate from our ladies changing area.

I've seen a dress by a designer you have in your shop, but you don't stock this particular gown from their collection?

If only we could buy every single gown from each designer! (trust us, we would!) We are only allowed to stock so many samples from each designer however, if you have seen a style you just love and couldn't possibly commit to finding 'the one' until you have tried it on then yes, we can ring the designer and they will send us their sample to borrow for several days allowing you to try it on in our store. Please note - certain designers charge a a small fee for this service to cover delivery charges.

I don't live near your shop, if I bought my dress with you how many times will I have to travel for seamstress fittings?

We have this covered, lots of our brides are from out of town, some even from outside the UK. Our seamstress can offer an exclusive one day alteration service so you only have to travel to see us once after purchasing your gown. There is an extra fee for this exclusivity.

Can you buy your menswear suits?

We only offer hire on our menswear range. All our suits include accidental damage insurance and professional dry cleaning, resulting in no extra charges after your big day.
